Virgil Thomson

Virgil Thomson was a vastly origional composer. Thomson studied at Harvard University and in Paris with Nadia Bourlanger. He met Gertrude Stein with whom he collaborated to write his opera Four Saints in Three Acts (1927-1928). A ballet Filling Station (1937). He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1948 for his film score for the Louisiana Story. Thompson is known for his comingaling of styles and techniques of all ages.

Thomson was an American born in 1896 and lived until 1989.
