Maurice Ravel Ravel was the most famous French composer next to Debussy in the 20th century. Ravel is best known for his orchestral works such as Bolero. Ravel, a master colorist and orchestrator, incorporated exotic harmonic and rhythmic elements in his unique style. He wrote Pavane pour une infante defunte and La Valse. Also for ballet, Daphnis et Chloe, the orchestral suites are among Ravel's most played works. Ravel lived from 1875-1937.
