Edward MacDowel

Edward MacDowel became the foremost American composer of his day and was among the first to enjoy international acclaim. MacDowel is best known for his short impressionistic piano peices and songs. He also wrote symphonic poems such as Hamlet and Ophelia and Lancelot and Elaine and his famous Second Piano Concerto. MacDowel's life was shortened by illness and accident. He lived from 1860-1908.
