Henry Cowell

Henry Cowell was born and raised in northern California in 1897. He was a pioneer explorer and utilizer of musical realms from electronic to world beat. He wrote over 600 compositions which include Tiger (1928?), the Amerind Suite (1939), and his eighteen Hymns and Fuguing Tunes for various instruments.

Cowell was one of the preeminent innovators and personalities of 20th century American music. He lived to 1965.
